Oh, yeah! It’s time for a big “P”imping!
“P” night, this Friday, 11/21, at Poison Girl.
We’ll be there at 9:30 for drinks, giggles, flirting, pinball, and pictures. How can you possibly resist that?

So…we’d had a long break, and were ready to launch back into action with N night. At Notsuoh. Well, we were not exactly bowled over. We can say that is was a very interesting place. With it’s own kind of unique charm.
There were numerous shelves of old shoeboxes, tricycles hanging from the ceiling, and stacks of old albums. And a mannequin at our table, covered in post-it notes. They also had an interesting art collection. If you’re interested in a set of three vaginas modeled out of coconut shells and red felt, I can tell you where to buy them. For the low price of $250. You, too, can own your own set of vaginas (if you’re feeling low on them at the moment)! I sat right under them. It made me feel…um…all womanly inside???
Due to the smokers at the bar (grr!) we only had one beer, documented our trip with photos, and walked around the corner to Cabo for fish tacos and margaritas. On the balcony, in the fresh air, looking over downtown Houston. Not a bad site. I’d recommend it, but that’s cheating. Cabo does not start with an “N.” Oh, well, it was an adventure. And now we feel all cool and stuff – like we know where the “underground” sort hang out. Heehee, whatever.
I had been wanting to try Oporto for awhile now. Friends Kim & Clay ( you may remember them from “L” night) LOVE this place, and Carla & Frank had been once before. And, I must apologize, because we did “O” night on a whim, and I didn’t announce it on the blog (only on Facebook, so if you haven’t friended me, do so!). For those of your following along at home, we’re sorry! But we really had a fierce urge (and you know you shouldn’t deny those!) for some good wine and good food.
And! Let me clarify. We did not break the hallowed Alphabet Bar Game rules. Even though Oporto serves food, they are called “Oporto Wine Bar” – clearly signifying they are a bar first, a restaurant second.
The good: The company. The atmosphere. The 3-person Latin sounds band. THE FOOD. OMG it was somewhat to die for. The TV with the UT/Texas Tech game on.
The bad: Our server who was lovely and sweet could not talk to us about wine. It’s a wine bar, right??
The ugly: We could not get them to serve us a full bodied red wine to save our lives. Seriously? At a wine bar? And let me tell you, we are not wine snobs. We appreciate it, but don’t quote Wine Spectator or insist that you have to pay alot to get good wine. (My favorite everyday wine? Sangre de Torro $7.99 at Spec’s!) Let’s just say that after trying multiple glasses – and bottles – we finally left and went to another wine bar to get a freakin’ good glass of red.
So, the lesson here is: go to Oporto, order lovely tapas and drink WHITE wine.
“P” night is next, fun people. Get your perky patooties there!
